Rose Mary Lucero, 66, of Brighton, passed away on January 12, 2017, in Brighton, Colorado.
The fourth of five children, Rose was born in June of 1950 to Manual and Charlotte (Torrez) Gabaldon in Brighton. Rose attended schools in Brighton, graduating from Brighton High School in 1968. After high school, Rose worked for the Head Start Program.
Rose attended the University of Northern Colorado, where she obtained a teaching degree. Rose taught school in Brighton while she continued her education, receiving a Master’s Degree as well as a School Administrator License. Rose was also a principal in the Erie Schools.
Rose was above all a family person. She met the love of her life; Manuel Lucero in Brighton, and in February of 1967, they were married. To the marriage came two children; Dean and Lisa.
Rose was passionate about her faith and was deeply involved with her church where she also taught Sunday school. Known to her family as a “professional student” she was forever in the books, always striving for more knowledge.
Rose is survived by her husband of fifty years; Manuel, her children Dean (Karen) Lucero and Lisa Lucero, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as sisters; Irene (Mike) Fuentez, Geri Vargas, Helen (Clint) Aragon as well numerous nephews and nieces and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Brother Manuel (Fran) Gabaldon.
A Vigil Service is scheduled for 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 17th at the Healing Place, 17801 East 160th Avenue, Brighton, Colorado.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at on 11:00am, Wednesday January 18th, at The Healing Place.
