Firestone, CO – Capitalizing on this area’s lure of the great outdoors, three big Front Range homebuilding companies celebrated the unveiling of eight new models in an event they called the Barefoot Lakes Pathfinders’ Grand Opening Celebration.
The “Pathfinders” descriptor, of course, plays off the recreational value of the area, with all its trails around the pair of community lakes and beyond. But the descriptor included a subtler suggestion that maybe these homes at Barefoot Lakes, built by Brookfield Residential, CalAtlantic Homes and Richmond American Homes, are worthy of discovery from some buyers who are looking for something a little different.
All eight of the models reflect the architects’ determination to convert the landscape into a true asset. So there is a premium on openness, windows and high ceilings. Homes range in size (1,700 to 3,600 square feet) and price (mid-$300s to mid-$500s, base), but they all try to present elements that are worthy of “discovery.”
Starting with Brookfield’s three “Avenue” models, some are two-stories with options for basements; others are garden level with basements (about 973 square feet, giving the owner two additional bedrooms). But they all have the open design, especially on the main level, with a minimal number of walls – sort of a trademark in Brookfield homes.
Brookfield’s Harvest models are on the bigger end of the Barefoot Lakes spectrum (starting at 2,552 finished square feet, plus 1,483 square feet in the basement), and they have proportionately more windows and even more openness, so that one room flows uninterrupted into the next.
Similarly, the Avenue 4 model has a “floating” staircase from the middle of the main floor; and even though it serves to separate the kitchen and dining area from the family room, the staircase also allows the main area to “wrap around” into a continuous flow of comfortable living.
(Another cool feature of the Avenue models is the Z-Wave technology that allows homeowners to control thermostats and dimmer lights on front porches and rear patios remotely and wirelessly, via smartphone or computer.)
CalAtlantic Homes and Richmond American Homes put no less workmanship into their homes, and the double-story ceiling in the family room of the CalAtlantic Homes Overview model (2,547 finished square feet, 1,199 in the basement, base cost $421,990) is almost alone worth the trip to Barefoot Lakes. The CalAtlantic Homes product at Barefoot Lakes will begin at 1,829 square feet (base price $386,990).
The Richmond American Homes Hemingway model is about the same size as the CalAtlantic Homes Overview, and the entire list of Richmond American Home products at Barefoot Lakes will range from 2,168 square feet to 2,931 square feet (base $400,950 to $421,950).
The six new models (and the two Brookfield Residential Harvest models) are open throughout the week, generally until 5 p.m. And by the way, if you go, check out the impressive, big-as-you-need-it island countertop in the kitchen of the Richmond American Homes Hemingway model. It’s the stuff that Pathfinders’ dreams are made of.
