Colorado SAQA’s “Under the Western Sun” & “Buffalo Bill: Quilting the Wild West”

UNDER THE WESTERN SUN is the Studio Art Quilters Association’s (SAQA) regional juried challenge featuring Western quilt art by Western artists. Where an artist lives impacts the voice with which they speak, here in the West we experience extremes of climate and altitude; intense color and light, unusual landscapes and plants; unique people and cultures.  These all influence the work we do Under the Western Sun.  Under the Western Sun is curated by Bev Haring & Barb Beasley.

The Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development, documentation and publications. The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is delighted to host this intriguing exhibit from juried SAQA regional member submissions.

RMQM Presents BUFFALO BILL: QUILTING THE WILD WEST, in collaboration with the Buffalo Bill Museum, was an open invitation to all quilters and fiber artists to create a quilt commemorating Buffalo Bill Cody and the Wild West. This exhibit celebrates the life of Buffalo Bill Cody and the 100th anniversary of his death. The exhibit was juried by Steve Friesen, Executive Director of the Buffalo Bill Museum & Grave in Golden, CO.
